She must've squirmed around back there for forty-five minutes straight before she finally decided it wasn't going to work. The backseat was only five feet long; the only solution would be to stick her feet out the window and sleep with her legs up, but she declined because the angle reminded her too much of the missionary position...

I don't understand; I've never had this sort of problem before. I stare at my computer screen, the only source of light in my barren study, and glare at my incomplete manuscript. The publisher wants this thing done by tomorrow evening, and here I am with the most inconvenient case of writer's block ever...

Lights are dim blue, it is the morning, and KATHY is in the kitchen making breakfast, she retrieves pills from a cupboard. MIKE is in the bedroom, stage right, asleep in the bed. MEGHAN is in the living space, asleep on the couch. The lights gradually rise, and KATHY makes her way to the bedroom...


CASTING CALL

Lights come up on a stage in an audition room. Amanda is standing by her chair reading her script. The director enters from the doorway and sees Amanda sitting there. Startled, he walks over to her...

The lights come on. Naomi is doing some everyday cleaning around the living room. All seems perfectly well and normal. Her husband, Charlie, comes in from work at the accounting firm looking particularly happy. He drops his coat and briefcase on the arm chair and kisses Naomi on the cheek as she continues her cleaning...
