When Will It End (2017-2018)

Lifeless bodies lay on asphalt, stiff
Face down, hands above their head
And hands cuffed behind their back
Brutally beaten and halfway to dead

When will it end?

Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, Philando Castille
Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, police what’s the deal
Police are so quick to pull their gun on a black man in a car
But then a school shooter survives to live his life behind bars
Eric Garner was selling cigarettes loosely on the street
If he was white and couldn’t breathe he’d have never been beat

When will it end?

The white privilege in this country needs to be put in check
Cops let white people walk but wrap up the black person’s neck
Brock Turner assaulted and raped a girl after a party outside
But only got 6 months because of red and white pride
George Zimmerman should’ve waited for the cops but instead
Trayvon Martin ended up with a hole in his head

When will it end?

Kaepernick kneeled for the anthem to stand for what he believed in,
For those black people’s lives that were brutally taken,
He didn’t mean for it to disrespect the flag or our troops who have fought
He did it because systematic racism is never actually taught
12 year old black kids with orange tip guns get killed in the park
Black youth are now in danger in the light and the dark

When will it end?

Brown, Rice, Castille, Garner, and Gray,
Colin kneeled down for you and the NFL said he couldn’t play
32 old white guys dictate his professional
All because he saw an issue and tried to help the cause
Yet our nation’s leader doesn’t even follow some of the laws
Instead he tweets at pro athletes with his twiddling thumbs
He’s making all of America look so arrogant and dumb

When Will it End?

White America sees black people as lesser than them
Yet a white boy shoots up a movie theater
But he walks into the courtroom unharmed
Philando Castille got shot in the chest and arm in the front seat of his car
With his baby in the back seat, but he was unarmed

When Will it End?

Have we even made strides from the Little Rock Nine?
Yet white America still sees black people and instantly thinks crime
Bad people will just be bad
A white boy was the reason our country was recently sad
Equality should be the America’s focal point and plan
Whether you’re gay, straight, white, black, or just tan

When will it end?

Athletes are becoming more vocal towards social activism
Especially Lebron who has a hand in humanitarianism
But since he plays basketball he’s told "shut up and dribble"
Just some uneducated anchor who couldn’t stand but to wibble
He donates millions of dollars and he built a school
She sits behind a desk on a privileged metal stool

When Will it End?

I wouldn’t imagine that Tom Brady would be told to shut up and throw
Yet the other day I saw a store manager tell a black boy to shut up and go
I said "He was doing nothing wrong", as the boy obeyed the command
But the manager said, "He would have grabbed something and ran"
In my head I was appalled by the hatred and racism he spewed
How could someone that’s been around so long be so hateful and shrewd?

When Will it End?

Black Panther is out in theatres, strictly for the audience,
But of course viewers see it as racially charged gaudiness
Why can’t a movie just be for show?
Why do viewers have to bring up race, because he’s a black superhero?
All of a sudden because there is a new gesture and a salute
It’s much more well received than screaming out "don’t shoot"
Maybe it’s a response to Trump calling Africa a bunch of "shithole countries"
‘Wakanda Forever’ is now a black pleasentry

When will it end?

Why can’t America just face the facts,
That all races and genders are capable of hideous acts?
Just take a look at our world's history
And stop imagining the US is immune to all of the misery
Maybe realize that Kony and Hitler were both terrible
Each a different race, and yet both were unbearable
MLK and Lincoln even had a similar agenda
To free blacks from white masters working them at haciendas
Both men were assassinated because of their beliefs
Unfortunately neither man was able to give the nation much relief

When will it end?

The hatred has gone on far too long
White people will say these cops are right even when they’re wrong
And it’s only to maintain some of their alleged "white power"
But in reality that mentality is a glass tower
Which is all white America seems to really be because we throw rocks at black America’s iron estate, but when they strike back they decree it as a crime full of hate

When Will it End?

What we don’t realize is that equality has strong persistence
Just look at how long we’ve fought for its existence
The Board and Ferguson vs. Brown and Plessy
Numerous activists have jumped aboard despite it being kind of messy
They joined this social activism to bring America together finally
But now some of the bad police have created a new racial rivalry
